A tax manager is being sought to join and complement the Corporate Compliance team which currently has a portfolio consisting of 175 clients, with the number rising annually. Accounting dates are evenly spread throughout the year and the business base of the companies is diverse, with a number of Groups within the portfolio.

Reporting to the Senior Manager and Client Partners, the role will relate to overseeing the timely completion of all Corporation Tax computations and returns to comply with the appropriate deadlines. It will also involve supervision of two team members. The role will also involve the following:В 

- Liaising with the accounting department at the earliest stage of planning accounts preparation work or audit to ensure an understanding of the clients business and that the correct tax based questions and information are asked
- First review at preparation stage of all corporate tax computations
- Be the first 'go to' person for all Corporate Tax queries from colleagues
- Be able to consider the preparation process of a set of accounts and the tax issues and guide colleagues to the same processВ 
- Self awareness of what they can answer from their own knowledge of the appropriate legislation or practise and be able to guide and educate their colleagues, but also to know what they cannot answer without further consultation and be able to research and consult within the firm for the best advice
- Dealing with the research if HMRC investigations occur with any of our Corporate clients and drafting of the appropriate responses to HMRC and the client
- To be able to respond to client partner requests for information on planning opportunities with the appropriately researched and documented alternatives
- To be able to recognise and advise on planning points for clientsВ В  - for example extraction of funds from the company, capital allowances claims and restrictions, use of losses and charges, group relief and claims, loan relationships, pension planning, share incentives, Enterprise management incentives etc.В В 
- To be able to recognise a problem and make suggestions to resolve when bringing to the attention of colleagues and partnersВ В В В В В В В В В В 
- To be able to review basic tax returns for small personal clients from time to time

The ideal candidate must have strong technical skills and experience, be conversant with both corporate and personal tax software and have a detailed up to date knowledge of corporate taxation issues. There will also be seasonal requirements to assist on the personal and non-corporate client base, and so the candidate will also need to have a good grounding in personal tax.

Candidates will ideally be at a supervisory level in their current role. They should also be CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified with a minimum of three years PQE experience gained in a Corporate TaxВ  environment.В  In addition, the candidate must have confidence in dealing with partners and clients, have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure in a friendly environment.
