Working with our clients, and under the direction of our managers in PCS, the job requires you to complete compilation engagements and corporate tax returns for a variety of small businesses. In addition, you may be required to complete review engagements for larger, more complex businesses. We work closely with our clients to understand their expectations and deliver outstanding client service. Providing value added service to our owner-manager clients is a very rewarding experience and is available to the candidate with the right skills and fit.
Planning the engagement, which includes:
- Conducting and reviewing research in order to have an in-depth understanding of a client's industry and business;
- Meeting with the client to determine expectations, issues and concerns; and
- Reviewing the engagement approach, related procedures and staff requirements, if any, with your manager.
Managing the engagement, which includes:
- Ensuring that all work is completed and documented in accordance with our prescribed standards;
- For larger engagements, managing staff and providing timely feedback throughout the engagement as well as formal performance reviews upon completion of the engagement;
- Managing interpersonal relations and building the morale of the team;
- Coaching and mentoring junior staff;
- Proactively providing business solutions and recommendations that reflect a thorough understanding of industry issues, client strategy and client culture;
- Continuously communicating with the Manager with respect to engagement progress - risks, issues, variances from plan in terms of time, budget, etc;
- Preparing reports and other client communication for review with senior staff;
- Preparing corporate tax returns, and other information returns and related correspondence;
- Assisting clients with accounting software.
Completing the engagement, which includes:
- Establishing and strengthening relationships with your clients to ensure client satisfaction both during and between the engagement; and
- Identifying potential opportunities to provide additional services to your clients.
Years Experience Required
Minimum of 1-2 years experience working with owner managed businesses in a public accounting firm or relevant industry role
Education Required
Post secondary diploma and/or degree in accounting
